Basic aikido stance " KAMAE"
Two basic stances used in aikido.
MIGI-HANMI (right stance) and HIDARI-HANMI (left stance ).
Kamae use the principles of Kendo.
Feet have a vertical position on each other and the distance between them must be one and a half the size of aikido practitioner's foot. At mingi-hanmi the right hand must be chest high and not full extended . Left hand stayes in front of hara with no touching the belly. Fingers are open and pointing out.
In hindari-hanmi feet and hands have a vice versa position .
All aikido techniques start from mingi-hanmi and hidari-hanmi.
KAMAE puts aikidoka in the right path of practice .
